Director Niccole SueAnn Wallace is seeking 3-4 women and 2 men for the upcoming production of Sean Grennan’s The Tin Woman.
Instead of relishing life after her heart transplant, Joy enters a downward spiral, unsure whether she truly deserves a second chance. Meanwhile, Alice and Hank mourn the loss of their son, Jack, whose heart was used to save Joy. At a friend’s urging, Joy tracks down Jack’s family to find closure – but are they ready to accept his death? The Tin Woman is based on a true story, and is being presented through Playscripts.
Characters:
Joy – mid 20s to late 30s – recently received a heart transplant
Hank – early 60’s – the father of Joy’s heart donor – struggling to accept Jack’s death
Jack – 36 – Joy’s donor – he is not a ghost, but more of a lingering memory – appears in almost every scene
Alice – Jack’s mother, dealing with her own pain after losing her son
Sammy – 20s to 30s – Jack’s sister
Nurse – 30s to 60s – a competent but annoying nurse taking are of Joy in the hospital (may double with Darla)
Darla – 30s to 60s – Joy’s friend, flamboyant and artsy soul (may double with Nurse)
Performances are November 12-14 and 19-21.
